Biosketch of Jin Zou:ZOU Jin (邹进) is a Professor, shared between Materials Engineering and the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis, at the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. Before he joined the UQ in late 2003, he worked in the Australian Key Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis at the University of Sydney for 10 years with several Australian fellowships, including a prestige Queen Elizabeth II fellowship.?Professor Zou earned his BSc (Solid State major) from the University of Science and Technology, Beijing in 1982 and a MEng (Metal Physics major) from the same institute in 1985. In 1989, he went to the University of Sydney as a PhD candidate and received a PhD (Materials Physics major) in 1993.?As a Chair in Nanoscience, Professor Zou’s research interest has been focused on the understanding of the evolution of advanced, smart and nano-scaled materials and the understanding of fundamental properties of these materials through correlating their structures with their demonstrated properties. His research has led over 240 journal publications, most of them in leading international journals.In the last decade, Professor Zou has developed many research links with international renowned scientists in the U.S., UK, Japan, Korea and China. Specifically, he has strong research links with top Chinese Universities (Fudan University, Nanjing University, Central South University, Harbin Institution of Technology, and South China University of Science and Technology) and several institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Institute of Physics, Institute of Metal Research, and Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics). Through this research links, he is supervising over a dozen Chinese PhD students, currently enrolled in Chinese institutions.
